Role in the project
UGE will participate actively in the definition of use cases and basically in all the tasks related with the development of an advanced driving simulator that can include the new functionalities of CAV.
Their main tasks are distributed as follow:
-
Contribute to Use cases definition + to the On-line survey on CAV/ALFRED Acceptability/Acceptance
-
Support WP3 efforts integration in / interfacing with the V-HCD platform
-
Leader of WP5 + development of / and with the V-HCD of CAV/ALFRED to support immersive experiments in the project and the to provide a SUAAVE final demonstrator
-
Implement and immersive experiment on IFSTTAR driving simulator + V-HCD, focused on CAV/ALFRED versus Pedestrian interactions
-
Support ESI Group in the Exploitation plan related to V-HCD, and contribute to Dissemination
Partner description
Université Gustave Eiffel is a multidisciplinary university born the 1st of January 2020, out of the merger of Université Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée, IFSTTAR research institute, a school of architecture and three engineering schools (EIVP, ENSG and ESIEE Paris). Université Gustave Eiffel is a major player in the French and European research on the cities of tomorrow and transportation. The team of the university (and previously IFSTTAR) involved in this project is the LESCOT. The LESCOT is the Laboratory of Ergonomics and Cognitive Sciences applied to Transport, working in the area of human driver modelling and human centred design of advanced driving aids and vehicle automation. Main background covered are knowledge about drivers (integrating different populations, like older, novice, or motorcyclists drivers) and their driving abilities (cognitive and behavioural), from naturalistic observations and analysis of their driving activity on instrumented cars to controlled experiment on driving simulator. In the frame of the COSMODRIVE program, these empirical data are used for modelling and simulate cognitive processes and their dysfunctions (like cognitive overload, distraction risks, and erroneous situation awareness). This knowledge is also used for the ergonomics design and evaluation of ADAS as well as vehicle automation. To support this Human Centred Design methods, LESCOT have developed a tool chain for driving activity analysis and modelling and then, for the virtual simulation of human drivers interactions with ADAS and/or with automated vehicles.
